Biometric Access Control

Access Control has evolved through keypads to the more standard application of cards, tokens and fobs.

In more recent years Biometrics have become increasingly used in the workplace. Biometrics is a wide reaching term that embraces but is not limited to fingerprint, face recognition, DNA hand and palm geometry, iris recognition, odour/scent and voice recognition.

Fingerprint recognition is the most common application used in Access Control and provides a very secure level of protection. Practicing what we preach SCS has a fingerprint system installed at our offices.

Biometric systems by default are PC based and there are a wide range of solutions dependent on site specific requirements.

As a note of caution, there have been examples of incorrectly specified Biometric systems being installed with disastrous effect. So it is important that an appropriate system is installed to meet the client´s needs and not just to install the latest technology because it is fashionable.
